Bill Hulings

William Hulings

Bass/Baritone

Bill is very pleased to be performing with the Eugene Opera again. He first met Andrew Bisantz and the good folks of Eugene Opera when the Opera hired him to choreograph the violence in Faust, and then again in Carmen. That's when he worked up the nerve in rehearsal one day to mention; "You know, I sing a little, too."

His past EO performances include Girl of the Golden West (Ashby), Beatrice et Benedict (Don Pedro), and Sweeney Todd (featured bass), and The Barber of Seville. Else where in Eugene Mr. Hulings' work has been seen with the Eugene Ballet, Concert Choir, and Symphony, and with Oregon Contemporary Theatre and Willamette Rep. Bill appears regularly as a vocalist with The Shedd Institute for the Arts' Oregon Festival of American Music, The Emerald City Jazz Kings, and Christmas shows, and has starred in many Shedd Theatricals productions since he arrived in Eugene in 2002: Crazy For You; Guys and Dolls; My Fair Lady; and The Music Man to name a few. Most recently, the Shedd provided him with the honor of playing Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.

Elsewhere in the U.S. Bill has performed with the Guthrie Theatre, GEVA, Seattle Rep., Arizona Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre of Washington, D.C., Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Virginia Stage, and toured with The Acting Company. He is a member of the Society of American Fight Directors, and has studied, taught, and choreographed stage combat in the US, Canada, and England.

He holds a BA in History and Political Science from The Colorado College, and a MFA in Theatre from The University of Minnesota. Let us all work toward finding the higher ground in 2024.
