Set sail on the HMS Pinafore this New Year’s when this rollicking production returns to Eugene audiences. On the majestic set created by legendary scenic designer Don Carson, mayhem ensues when the Captain’s daughter sets her sights on the handsome sailor Ralph Rackstraw, a man far beneath her station. Only when mistaken identity reveals the true nature of her father’s birth is the ship righted and all made well again. Join us for this royal send-up of the hypocrisy of politicians and the British class system. This production will have you ringing in 2019 in style!
The production features Eugene Opera favorites Jake Gardner as Sir Joseph Porter, Curt Olds as Captain Corcoran and Emily Pulley as Little Buttercup, and introduces newcomers Benjamin Robinson and Jessica E. Jones as the lovers.
Sung in English with projected supertitles.
The performance will be preceded by a lecture by Artistic Director and Conductor Andrew Bisantz in the lobby of the Hult Center 45 minutes before curtain.
