Curt Olds
Director
Curt Olds has enjoyed a critically acclaimed career working with opera and musical theatre companies, as both performer and director, around the world. He has been seen on Broadway, at Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall in addition to appearances with leading production companies across the country. He currently appears in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s World Tour of Phantom of the Opera in addition to recent productions of Cats, Riverdance, Cabaret, Candide and over 60 productions of the works of Gilbert & Sullivan.
A sought-after producer, Curt served as General Director of Fargo Moorhead Opera for the 2023-2024 & 2024-2025 seasons as well as Director of Artistic Planning for Utah Festival Opera. His production company, Black Tie Broadway, collaborates with symphony orchestras to present exciting concert versions of Broadway’s best shows. He holds degrees with distinction from both Boston’s New England Conservatory and the University of Montana and regularly teaches coursework and masterclasses at schools across the country. He is the 2023 recipient of the University of Montana Odyssey of Our Stars Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Recent directing credits include Sweeney Todd (Pacific Symphony), 9 to 5-the Musical (Bigfork Summer Playhouse), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Utah Festival Opera), Cats (University of Southern Illinois), My Fair Lady (Milwaukee Symphony), and The Pirates of Penzance (Eugene Opera).
