In an international operatic career that has spanned over three decades, Dr. Noel Koran has established himself as an artistic administrator, producer and stage director with extensive credentials in Opera and Operetta, having produced and directed productions by such diverse composers as Britten, Lehar, Mozart, Puccini, Smetana, Tchaichovsky and Verdi. Prior to becoming a producer and a stage director, he appeared on the operatic stage as a singer more than 600 times in a variety of musical genres that include Opera, Operetta, and Musicals in both this country and in Europe, where he lived and worked as an opera singer for nearly a decade. Dr. Koran also has extensive experience as an educator, having been the director of major opera programs at such prestigious institutions as Northwestern University, Ohio State University and the University of Washington. Before joining Tacoma Opera as General Director, he was the Director of the Department of Performing Arts at Southern Oregon University in Ashland and the General Director of the Rogue Opera in Medford, Oregon.
