Letter from Executive Director Erika Rauer
July 3, 2023

Dear Friends,
I'm writing to announce my departure as Executive Director of Eugene Opera this coming September. After six years in this leadership role, I am leaving to return to direct social service provision for youth and adolescents.
I am grateful for the support of the Eugene Opera Board of Directors, my colleague and collaborator Andrew Bisantz and the staff of Eugene Opera. I am especially appreciative of the wonderful artists, orchestra, chorus, creative team, technicians, business leaders and donors who care so deeply about Eugene Opera.
I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished over the past six years. As a producer, my personal highlights include our mainstage productions of HMS Pinafore, The Barber of Seville and La bohème, as well as modern works such as As One, Lucy, the little match girl passion and María de Buenos Aires. During my tenure, we expanded to new venues, developed new educational partnerships, and reached underserved communities. To support this work, we were awarded new funding sources, including national grants and major foundation support. The company transitioned to digital production during the pandemic, marking a major shift for our industry and art form. Because we created a cash reserve and investment fund during that time, Eugene Opera is now in a strong position to meet the challenges of the next few years as audiences return to the theater.
The Board will conduct a search for a new Executive Director over the summer. Once that person is in place, I hope you will support them with your generosity, ticket purchases, goodwill and encouragement. The company truly lies in the hands of the community. If we all continue to support its mission, it will thrive.
Warm regards,
Erika Rauer
Executive Director
