Behind the Scenes in 2019-20
Introductory meeting Thursday, October 3, 6:30 pm at the Midtown Arts Center, located at 1590 Willamette!
The Eugene Opera Academy is open to all teens with an interest in any area of the performing arts. Whether your interest is performance, set design, costuming and makeup, lighting, music, marketing — you can think of the program as an “All Access Pass” to the process of production.
You will go backstage, meet with the technicians, the musicians, the chorus and the stars. You will have the opportunity to attend rehearsals and matinee performances, to sing in a master class and to develop a project following your personal interest. For those students in high school, you will also have the opportunity to win a $500 scholarship to the educational institution of your choice after completion of high school. All students will receive a Certificate of Participation for use at schools and in academic/employment applications.
There are about 20 students in the Eugene Opera Academy program. Faculty include Eugene Opera’s Artistic Director Andrew Bisantz, artistic and technical staff, the local and international stars in our casts, local technical crew, and members of Eugene Opera’s Education Committee and Chorus.
Join us. Learn a lot. Have fun — and a unique and valuable educational experience! For more information, view our flyer here.
Program fee: $30.00 for the whole season of 15+ events, including tickets to the matinee performances! (Tuition scholarships available.)
