Kari Welch, originally from Wisconsin, embarked on her journey in the arts early on, earning her BA in theater and dance from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. She deepened her theatre education through an acting internship at a LORT theatre in Milwaukee before making the move to Seattle, Washington. There, she immersed herself in the vibrant theatre scene, excelling not only as a performer but also as a choreographer and educator at various theatres and schools.
After a decade spent nurturing her family, Kari resumed her career following a relocation to Eugene, Oregon. Over the past 12 years, she has been a cornerstone of the local arts community. Her acting prowess is showcased through memorable performances at Oregon Contemporary Theatre, including her recent role in "Predictor," as well as acclaimed performances in "Hand to God," "At Home at the Zoo," "Middletown," and "Thanksgiving Play," among others.
Equally adept behind the scenes, Kari has made her mark as a director with notable productions such as "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" at Cottage Theatre and "Little Women the Musical" and "Harvey" at Very Little Theatre. Her creative vision and leadership have enriched Eugene's theatrical landscape.
In addition to her artistic contributions, Kari has honed her administrative skills in nonprofit management, earning a graduate certificate from the University of Oregon. She has applied these skills effectively in fundraising and marketing roles at prominent local nonprofits including Lane Arts Council, Wellsprings Friends School, and Very Little Theatre.
Throughout her career, Kari Welch has exemplified dedication to both the artistic and administrative aspects of theatre, leaving an indelible impression on the communities she serves.
